BIDDEFORD - Marty Grohman, independent candidate for Congress in Maine's 1st district, released the following statement following the passage of Question 1 Tuesday night, reinstating Ranked Choice Voting for Federal elections this fall after the Maine legislature effectively repealed it earlier this year:

"I congratulate the Committee for Ranked Choice Voting. Together with their thousands of volunteers, they built a campaign on a simple and powerful truth: Maine voters want a better way to elect their representatives, and they're tired of the political parties dividing us. Maine's independents, who represent more Maine voters than either political party, will have a much stronger voice in our elections now that RCV is in place, and I look forward to the positive impact this system will have on the First District Congressional race."
