Maine Veterans Coalition Supports Grohman for Congress

Veterans cite Grohman's record of advocacy, say he'll be a champion for veterans in Congress

BIDDEFORD -- A coalition of Maine veterans today announced its endorsement of Marty Grohman’s campaign for Maine’s First Congressional District seat. Grohman has been named an honorary lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America for his work to help Maine’s veterans.

The list includes decorated veterans of both parties who answered their country’s call to service in our armed forces. Maine has the 5th highest number of veterans per capita in the country, according to the American Community Survey. Full list of endorsements below.

Don Chretien, U.S.M.C veteran and author of well-known Vietnam memoir Hovering in Harm’s Way, said, "Marty Grohman has a strong record of fighting for Maine’s veterans. I appreciate his dedication to making sure those who served our country far from home are taken care of when they return. We need Marty in Congress to continue his work."

Richard Doyle, U.S.M.C., said, “Marty understands the importance of national defense and of treating our servicemen and women right. He will make sure our heroes are not forgotten. He’s the right person to represent Maine’s veterans in Congress.”

The endorsements follow the release of a video highlighting Marty’s work on behalf of veterans, as well as a wave of endorsements by elected officials in both parties. Watch the video here >>

Grohman expressed his thanks. “One of the greatest honors of my life has been to work with the veterans community in Maine to make sure those who served our nation have the resources they deserve. I cannot thank the people on this list enough. In Congress, I will be relentless in my advocacy for veterans and I am so honored to have their support."

As an Independent legislator, Marty has had great success working with both sides of the aisle. He’s been ranked the most bipartisan member of the legislature, as well as “Legislator of the Year” by both the Retail Association of Maine and the American Legion. He received the President’s Award from the Maine Sheriffs Association, and was named an honorary life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
