BIDDEFORD -- Mayor David Rollins of Augusta and Mayor Alan Casavant of Biddeford, both Democrats, today announced their endorsement of Marty Grohman’s congressional campaign.
Grohman, a businessman and independent candidate for Congress in Maine's first district, thanked the respected duo for their support.
“I support Marty because I know that he’s going to be extremely effective in Washington. He’ll work to get results for Maine regardless of party or political leaning. He’ll represent all of us.” Rollins, a small business owner, has served as mayor of Augusta since 2014. He’s a Cony High School basketball legend and a former Augusta city councilor.
“I support Marty because I’ve worked with him to help our City for years and he’s an incredible advocate for Mainers of all stripes," said Casavant. "We would be wise to elect him to Congress.” Casavant is a former Biddeford state legislator and city councilor as well as a former Biddeford High School teacher.
“I deeply appreciate Alan and David’s support,” Grohman said. “From infrastructure to health care to law enforcement and economic development, the municipalities of Maine's First Congressional District are in constant discussion with the federal government to make sure their communities continue to be the best places to live, work, and raise families. Our towns and cities need a strong ally in Congress to make sure they have the resources they need, and that's exactly what I'll be as the next Congressman from Maine's First District."
As an Independent legislator, Marty has had great success working with both sides of the aisle. He’s been ranked the most bipartisan member of the legislature, as well as “Legislator of the Year” by both the Maine Retail Association and the American Legion. He received the President’s Award from the Maine Sheriffs Association, and was named an honorary life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
